Alexandria began her professional career in the jewelry field in 1980, after earning her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences at the University of Oregon with a minor in jewelry making. She gained her Graduate Gemologist degree through the Gemological Institute of America, and has received three prestigious credentials from the American Gem Society: Registered Jeweler, Certified Gemologist and Certified Gemologist Appraiser. She holds an appraising credential from the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. The societies she belongs to are the Antique Jewelry Historian Society, the American Gem Trade Association, the Women's Jewelry Association, and the Gemological Institute of America Alumni.
For Alex, the marriage of the arts and sciences achieved by combining gemology and a career in jewelry has been a rewarding path. Following her beginnings in Pike Place Market, Alex worked 16 years in Seattle’s renowned Fox’s Gem Shop before starting her own legacy in Seattle by opening her first store in 1999. Her choice to work with eco friendly jewelry and repurposed metals is congruent with her personal values of mindful environmental choices.
